“When I grow up, I will have a nice home” is a story of courage, perseverance, and hope.
It provides a glimpse into a woman’s life as she struggles to overcome life’s challenges and fulfill her dreams, serving as a reminder of the importance of persevering and never giving up.
The project was initiated by my neighbor in my townhouse community, Raili Ohlsson, who wanted her life to be documented so as not to be forgotten. She shared, and I took notes. The material consists of text, archival images, and newly taken photographs, reflecting her life from childhood to adulthood, with a focus on the choices she faced at different stages in life. We get to learn about the challenging journey to financial stability through hard work.
